Q and A Print

Q1.  How much is an ad?

Answer:

Ad pricing depends upon the number of areas which you wish to run the ad in, and the length of the ad run.  Coffee News offers 13 editions and 3 contract lengths, so there are allot of options when it comes to pricing.

However, ads in Coffee News are less expensive than other print media, so the small business person can easily afford to advertise. Rates currently run as little as 1/10th the cost of the local newspaper.  Ad prices generally run less than a daily cup of those "fancy" coffees at your local shop.  So unless another company in your "category" or business is already advertising in the edition, it is open to you. Remember all ads in Coffee News are “EXCLUSIVES”, meaning we only allow one type of business in each edition, allowing our advertisers to LOCK OUT their competition — unlike any other publication in town!

Q2.  What is your Idaho circulation?

Answer:

Coffee News is currently delivered to over 750 locations troughout the Treasure Valley.  Look for us everywhere from fine dining to fast food. 60% of our locations are resaurants, delis, coffee houses, etc. Everywhere people grab a bite to eat or enjoy a cup of coffee. The remaining 40% are distributed to places were people are known to wait. Such as car washes, oil and lube changes and doctors offices. We are currently in the Treasure Valley, but we will expand throughout southern Idaho.  Based upon statistics from the franchise we would currently reach about 10,000 readers per area, or 70,000 total readers throughout the Treasure Valley.

Q3.  How do I pay for an ad?

Answer:

We offer you a lot of flexibility in how you choose to pay for your ad. You may pay for the ad in advance with cash, check, Visa, Mastercard, Discover, or American Express.  Coffee News offers a substantial discount for contracts paid in advance.

Coffee News will also finance your advertising for you with a minimum 6 month contract.  20% down payment is required in advance, and the remaining balance can be deducted from your credit card of choice, as listed above.

Q4.  Why do you recommend that the ad run for at least 13 weeks?

Answer:

Advertising as a whole takes time to season.  People are bombarded with ads every moment of every day and as such the human condition makes us "shutdown" to advertising.  That is why statistics show that an ad needs to run for a minimum of 13 weeks before a decent response level has been received from your customers.

Q5.  How often do you publish and where are you distributed?

Answer:

New issues are distributed weekly to restaurants, delis, coffeehouses, etc. Its purpose is to provide POSITIVE, ENJOYABLE reading to those waiting for their meals (seen by a high number of readers 3 meals a day!) or relaxing over a cup of coffee. With Coffee News, there is no BAD news — only trivia, fun facts, local events, and other fun things that draw attention (like the chance to win a free gift each month). To see the locations where you can pick up a copy of Coffee News, visit the Distribution area of this web site.

Q6.  Do I need to design the ad?

Answer:

NO... If you already have a camera-ready ad -- GREAT! If you don't, well then that's great too because we'll work with you to create one. The ad production fee is only $75.00.

Q7.  Can I change the ad now and then?

Answer:

Yes, you can. You can change your ad weekly (if desired). Furthermore there is never a charge for minor ad changes, which may be e-mailed, faxed or phoned in. The deadine is Monday afternoon at 5:00pm for the following weeks issue.

Q8.  What's the monthly contest all about?

Answer:

Each week, we hide a small "Coffee News Cup" icon in one of the ads. We hold a drawing and have a monthly prize winner. This has proven to be a very popular contest around the world. This contest is great for our advertisers as well, as it encourages our readers to look through all of the ads in order to find the "Coffee News Cup"!

Q9.  Can I subscribe to Coffee News?

Answer:

You cannot currently subscribe to Coffee News. It is a free publication distributed primarily at restaurants, or any other place where you might have some time to read while waiting.

Q10. Can restaurants advertise in Coffee News?

Answer:

No. As a courtesy to all our restaurant and coffee shop clients in Idaho, we offer the protection that no business in the restaurant industry will be allowed to advertise in Coffee News. Although most restaurants would love to have an ad, they are disallowed automatically. The reason -- a Moxie Java ad in Coffee News, for example, would have every Starbucks refusing to carry Coffee News. No restaurant would welcome their competitor's efforts to take away their customers right inside their own premises, so they would naturally kick them out -- and Coffee News too.

We do offer restaurants carrying Coffee News a free location listing on our web site showing our readers where they can pick up a free copy of Coffee News.

Q11. How long have you been publishing in Idaho?

Answer:

We have been publishing Coffee News in Idaho since December of 2000.

Q12. How long has Coffee News been in existence?

Answer:

In 2008 Coffee News is celebrating our 20 year anniversary! It was originally researched and founded by Jean Daum in Winnipeg, Canada in 1988. It has grown to over 500 locations in 34 countries worldwide!
